Paintbrush4life is a name i came up with because I am and will continue to make a healthy living off of my paintings for the rest of my life. I firmly believe that anything you want to achieve in life one of the keys is to think positive about your goals and speak positive about your goals into existence. you can’t move forward in life if you don’t have the confidence to believe in the great things you can achieve. Painting is fun and sometimes a challenge for me. I say this because every new painting project I start is exciting knowing that I get a chance to learn something new about a new approach, determination and perspective. I also see it as a chance to out do my previous work. It can be a challenge at times because each object/ topic I paint has a different perspective, personality and emotion to it. Everytime I come across that challenge I work the paint in stages of layers. I say layers because art is a comparison to people. We are not a finished art piece, we go through layers of maturing by experiences we face in life. As we get older and mature we see the better version of ourselves, like art. Each time I come back to my painting I see it grow and mature to what I envisioned it to be, and this is very gratifying for me. My paintings consist of acrylic paint on top of african textile fabric and a canvas. I come from a african american background so for me using african textile fabric gives me a piece of culture that I haven't fully known. Growing up in an american culture kind of made me neglect my ancestry to know who and where me and my family came from. As I got older I realized it's important for me, my family and my people to know where they came from before the 1600's so we see the beauty and value in ourselves and not look to other people for what standards are. This is why I use african textile fabric and my paintings varies from different topics of sports, movies, history, music, cityscapes and spirituality. My goal is for the viewer to feel positive by the vibrant colors and for my people to see the value in themselves.
